Last month Yahoo filed a lawsuit against Xfire claiming Patent Infringement. A patent on game browser with instant messaging technology. Just a few days ago Xfire filed a countersuit stating that it's an obvious attempt from Yahoo to drive Xfire out of business or to sell it's proprietery technology.
To show Xfire your support sign the "Yahoo Lawsuit on Xfire - Stop It" petition by going here: http://www.petitiononline.com/Xfire/petition.html
Then show Yahoo your support (yahoo search, mail, instant messenger, etc.) by boycotting their services. Delete your Yahoo account by going here: https://edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_user
There are tons of better free alternatives to Yahoo's ad infested services. Google provides the search (funny because Yahoo bought a license to run the Google engine), and for mail there's Gmail (http://www.gmail.com). For Instant Messaging there's AIM (http://www.aim.com), and of course Xfire (http://www.xfire.com). For personal homepages there are plenty of good alternatives.
XFIRE™ FILES COUNTERSUIT AGAINST YAHOO
Countersuit states that Yahoo’s lawsuit is a baseless attempt to drive Xfire out of business or to force Xfire to sell or license its proprietary technology
MENLO PARK, CA, March 10, 2005 — XfireTM Inc., the fastest growing online gaming platform and community, announced today it has filed an answer and countersuit in United States District Court in response to a lawsuit filed by Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO).
Yahoo had previously filed a lawsuit against Xfire for allegedly infringing U.S. patent number 6,699,125 (the ‘125 patent). In today’s filing Xfire refutes all allegations that it is infringing Yahoo’s patent. In addition, Xfire has filed a countersuit stating that the Yahoo lawsuit is an attempt to drive Xfire out of business (and therefore avoid direct competition in the marketplace) or to force Xfire to sell or license its proprietary technology to Yahoo for far less than fair market value to settle the expensive litigation.
