The dude just wanted to make a buttload of cash by ebaying this old item, and thought tossing in a little story would sell it.
The receiving will be shafted with a $10 gaming system that he bought for $200 just because of a fluffy exciting, false story.

Yeah, i def think it was a scam. Besides, if you were going to buy a NES why not buy the top loading system?
