first i get flamed for gold for killers only...and they make a big fuss about it at forums.s2games.com. so i turn it off. then a thread gets started about server admins mainly directed towards us at savageelite.com about sensor exploiting and not kicking the comm for deleting sensors and that this is TT's stance on it. as much as i'd like to keep a close watch on everybody i would rather just like to play so i installed relic to handle the sensor problem...

now 3 leet individuals come to the server and start talking trash in global chat and msg votes about how buff requesting is turned off, officer request is turned off, the gold that spills over to teammates sound is annoying, and that we're running relic 1.54 beta and not the latest 1.60 beta. they've been playing on our servers for months now and since installing relic for the first day he has the balls to say in global chat "what server is this? so i know never to come back...". and as usual a thread has been started at forums.s2games.com about our server.

i know not everyone can be pleased but i do try. if people have problems about the server settings then they should come here first rather than making a big commotion some where else and detracting players from our server. i'm starting to question if it's even worth running this server if i seem to get more complaints than a thank you for giving us a place to play, or how bout just making a mandatory donations box to keep the servers alive because i really don't feel like paying $260/month anymore.

As for the sensor thread...it was blowing off steam at a bad situation. I think it shows that many players, including myself, have taken buff requesting into consideration when they plan a loadout or are gonna take a group on.

I think the solution would be to enable the setting thru relic. Can you do that?

The other thing is that if I had to trade sensor exploits for buff request i would. I think only a few jackasses actually exploit sensors and the com can delete them. Its not that big of a problem..and yes running a server is hard.

i agree about the gold issue, i hate hearing the noise even though it's a good idea i'd like it if you get the sound for gold turned off.

Hmmm...

This sounds like a case of "whiny syndrome..."

I think Meosos is right...but there’s not much you can do about it...it’s mostly those of the Newbie persuasion who sensor exploit, not well known clan people. I recall once we were playing on TT server and Vicious (who was commed Human) was accused of pointedly ignoring the sensor exploit when I know for a fact that he deleted them. Not to mention that there weren’t that many there in the first place...I went spectator and tried to find them. Then I tried telling them… (Since I was on beast) that there really wasn’t enough sensors to inhibit game play. None listened. So they did what they generally do best…bitch and fights…sigh.

Also why would they post that on the forums…aren’t we trying to garner new people to play? If they see that it’s a hateful community people will stop playing and this game will drown…

I remember when playing was about fun....not being the community drama queen…:009:

I am glad to hear that they have a mod out there that will stop sensor exploit. However, many of you might not like my approach on this issue. My stance is: if you can do it, and wanna do it, then do it. Thus, I'm glad to see that we have this relic thing which will stop the sensor exploit... so my stance on this doesn't have to be a negative one anymore. :)

As far as the buff requests.. it's just too time-consuming for the commander (especially a noob one) to go around, wondering who needs buffs..and it's a spam issue for people to ask for buffs... some people ask for buffs together, and only one is available... what we should do is keep the buff request on (not necessarily the officer request, since COM should really decide that in beginning), and allow the first-come, first-serve factor to play on. I think this is fair, and of course the requests will come at a time when the player needs it, not when the com has the time to give it.

As far as the gold sound issue, I think it's good - cause it lets me know that I'm gettin filled up... also, it lets me know that a teammate is in battle or is attacking. But, if it truely is more of a burden than a plus, and if there is a way to turn it off, then perhaps that's best for the majority.

I think using ex2/third-eye in order to configure auto-accept the way the commander wants to is the best way to go as far as allowing certain requests and disallowing others, etc. This way we can allow units to request buffs, but not gold.. if it's needed for base defenses early-on. I don't find a problem with using these scripts, and I think that most of it is just using the resources that the game already provides.

i dont mind buff whoring in the pubs, basically because most of the time im playing for laughs anymore.... and i do enjoy a flaming shaman every now and then.

if people wanna bitch, tell em to stfu and go play SG, i'd rather have 8v8's on tt with 16 skilled players then whiny nooblars....though that's gonna hurt my stats some i guess.
