playing in a savagegaming server at the moment, and i'm asked what happened to the TT server. well this is what i think...

you can connect to our public TeamSpeak server just fine (which also happens to be on the same server box as our savage games). the TT, SI & UA servers all disappeared from the in-game browser, although you can still connect to them using All-Seeing Eye or Xfire. they disappeared approximately the same time the autoupdater patched savage to 2.00e and may also have something to do with ex2. well the SavageElite servers somehow magically appeared, and SE has been in collaboration with S2 and the ex2 clan management. and with TT, SI, & UA servers usually the populated ones....SE needed a way to populate their servers.

spoke with invictus and they think it's a bad router somewhere. spoke with my server host and they said that wouldn't make sense and believes its a masterserver problem. the master server was fixed once when it went down for a few days by jebus by adding the IPs of known servers and jebus is the coder of ex2 so he could've accidentally left our servers out of the list?

How much does it cost to run a savage server somewhere? I would assume it costs the same for any game, right? I might be interested in one, depending on the cost.

I haven't really bothered with looking as X-fire covers me. Savage wasn't patched to e; its a weird version change that occurs when you use jebus's master server list :). As far as I know though, that patch is old and fixes the list, but makes the auth disappear. HomeLan says that their networks are being fiddled with and that "some customers may experience problems". Whatever it is though, its really getting annoying that s2 and HomeLan can't figure this crap out.
Also, our servers are showing thanks to a fix from <BK> Malakyte. There's no way you can make the list exclude servers. Not to mention SI is ran by Daolin which is also a staff member at SE.

Hey, I used to get really weird issues for a while. I could play savage just fine but when i went onto any kind of voice chat it would lag me out and have major packet loss....i switched out my router for a new $50 POS linksys and the problem went away.

nota, actually the one who made the fix the last time the in-game server browser list went down for a long time was jerrith, jerrith made a temporary server list fix (http://forums.s2games.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=100600955&f=971600065&m=80710819211&r=80710819211#80710819211) by hacking up the game.dll and added his favorite servers (screenshot (http://jerrith.com/ServerFix.jpg)). jebus made the other fix for the game server list (http://forums.s2games.com/eve/ubb.x?q=Y&a=tpc&s=100600955&f=971600065&m=54810029211&p=1) by hacking up the silverback.exe but forget how it worked since s2games eventually got on the ball to fix it. anyways i was just pointing out that it is possible to "exclude" servers. and daolin may be a staff member of SI, but their servers are hosted by deftone i believe and not valk.

sorry to point fingers nota but i'm just really irritated at this whole situation. it just sounds suspicious to me that valks' servers now show in-game (se pri, se pub, clan management, and BKs) considering they used to be (oc-192) xtra xp and the few others he had never ever did show up until the autoupdater or ex2 or whatever it may be.

i see the in-game server browser list is backup after a few days which is great but still no TT, invictus, or UA servers. so i've decided to stop payment on the dedicated server box because it's really not worth paying $260/month for servers people can't see, and will be going back to the shared server box and just running a 24man private server for clan use as well as the teamspeak server (IPs will change but if your connecting to the garage.treethugs.com redirect you'll be fine) which all shouldn't be more than $100/month.

Sweet! I haven't seen them in the latest list, though... SEA is a big ping for me, being across the country.. but DFW.. where's that? I think I played there ok before.

I understand the concern Corn, but the servers started showing well before this stupidty reared its head again. Malakyte actually patched it during a Priv game, hence the main reason we are hosting the BK server for now. Like I said, I haven't seen any servers for a few weeks, not even SE ones. Uttar and Jebus are thoroughly against us doing anything to abuse "our" "power", so to speak. I really wish ya would have just asked me before posting this Cheif :mad: . I promise ya theres no big conspiricy. The problem is with the S2 master server. Seems like evereytime it konks out different weird stuff happens. The only reason my server is now showing is because of BK Malakyte. I had offered to host their server for them as they were having some problems with their own. During the conversation we talked about my servers never showing up correctly. Turns out it was something to do with all of the ip's on my ded box. I honestly don't understand how it works. I thought you had just had just taken your server down. If you would like, I could hook ya up with Malakyte maybe he can fix yours? There is a way he has of "forcing" it to show up using another computer.

As for invictus's server, they seem to be having a router problem. Malakyte checked that one for us too.

SavageElite.com is out to help the community not to hog it all to ourselves. If theres anything I can do to help ya out, pm me on the irc. I see you there everyday. You should have just said something :confused: I will also ask jebus about it when I talk to him for ya. Hopefully this will kill this conspiricy theory :biggrin:

One of the problems with a mod getting popular use is it starts to get blamed for eveything that goes wrong, even when it's obviously completely out of my control.

The master server, authentication server, hearbeat server are all run by S2 via HomeLan. EX2 and I have nothing to do with them. As far as me being in collaboration with S2, so far I haven't received anything from them, let alone be in a position to dick around with master servers (cos i'm an evil bastard).

The master list fix I made when the server originally went down months ago, at the bottom of http://subentient.com (http://subentient.com/), patches silverback so that it uses my host as the master server. I store a list of servers on it so that people can see games, the last time I updated that list was several days ago, I simply copied it from the current S2 list at the time. If you want I can add your IP to the list if it's not already there, but I don't expect people to use the fix unless the real master is down.

Re the 2.00e patch, silverback was patched to it to fix an exploit. You can download the standard 2.00e from http://www.offsetsoftware.com/silverback.exe.

Anyway keep posting your conspiracy theories. Don't use EX2 if it'll help. I'll try to cope with losing the business.

Hi guys...

There's no conspiracy... just something weird going on with S2's servers... If I could corner one of the devs I could give him an idea what to look for, but these guys are slippery as hell...

If you server isn't showing up on the list and you have more than 1 IP going to the internet from your dedicated box, that's what your problem is. If someone can give me your server's IP and port, I can make it appear on the list to make sure that's the problem, and then we can fix it completely.

And we also need the masterserver to work at the same time... eh.
